Like a lot of people I grew up going to Sunday School every Sunday morning, in church every Sunday (second row from the back, left hand side), and Bible School in the summer. We memorized Bible verses for prizes and listened to the "happy" Bible stories. I have wonderful memories of summer Bible School, making crafts and learning about the Bible in a small town with family and friends. The church even gave me several Bibles, but I have never read them. I have decided it was long overdue. I have started reading the Bible today. I plan to finish it. If you see me, ask me what book I am on - so I feel guilty for not reading fast enough. I read the other day the "Founding Fathers" of our great nation read the Bible once a year. I'd like to pretend I will do this - but we have television and they didn't. Not that I think television is an alternative to reading the Bible. So far this is what I find interesting in Genesis.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, " Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." How could animal rights activists argue with that?
I also was laughing with Jake that Eve ate the fruit first and then offered it to Adam. When confronted by God Adam blamed Eve. I wonder, why they didn't just eat it together at the same time?
Thank you - Jennifer
You're welcome my friend! When I read that verse I thought of you! After we read it cover to cover this year, their is a chronological way to read it. I think that will be a nice way to do it. :)
