Possible Future Family Vacation

I know most people look for fun family vacation spots.  When I was growing up it was more like Chevy Chase's vacation movies.  There was a mini van, cooler, motels and educational sight seeing.  My parents never took us to the beach for a week or to Florida.  The only beach we ever went to was the Pacific Ocean in northern California (I think), for one hour.  We went out west in two weeks in the mini van - in between hay cuttings.  I believe the states traveled in two weeks were in this order Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio.  We did sleep every night (not for eight hours) in a hotel.  There was a time in the Arizona desert, mom had to foot race another mom to a hotel to get the last room in what the sign said 50 miles. My idea of family vacation has forever been altered.  Jacie and Jaelin  have traveled west by car/truck every year since they have been born.

I thought you would need that preface to help understand why I would consider this next video a potential family vacation spot.  Jaelin is on board (she didn't ask and I didn't tell her how long the car ride would be).  Jacie said, "where is it? - Mexico"!  I said, "yes".  She said, "uh no".  She is starting to understand the map.

I actually found this video on Drovers one of my favorite beef industry websites.  I am glad the Mexican cattle ranchers think paying their checkoff is just another cost of doing business.

  1. This cracks me up! Your mom racing another mom? Classic!!! My dad always found a dairy farm when we were on vacation! Even at Virginia Beach-he found a farm to visit!

  2. If you knew my very non competitive mom you would think that was even more funny. I love vacationing with farmers. Truly a different experience in so many ways.

    1. I chuckled when I read this. I can picture your mom running for the motel and then later stressing about how rude she was and that she just can believe she did that, but you guys needed the room. LOL!
